or is it just me? DH thinks i'm bonkers, we got a new washer yesterday and i spent the evening in the utility room organising washing powders etc and playing with the new machine and periodically visiting him in the living room to say "gosh, its quiet you know!" [pathetic]

Oh yes, when I move back to the UK in October we are buying a new double fridge freezer, hoover and dishwasher all at once - can you imagine!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, I get very excited too . Fortunately the whole family does - we got a new Dyson recently and my elder stepson and my partner both rave about it .

Nothing wrong with playing house from time to time with washing powders etc - just as long as you don't obsess about it all and let playing house take over your whole existence.

glad its not just me! DH just doesn't understand! He spent an hour in currys asking why we needed a digital display and why couldn't we just get a simple washing machine, and at that price will it make a cuppa !

Ask him whether he understands that there is a difference in performance between a Renault Clio and a Ferrari and which one he'd prefer.

lmao, thought I was odd getting excited about new appliances but obviously not!! We've just had new washer, dryer, fridgefreezer and oven and I spend hours playing with them!! Oh hasn't even been allowed to cook yet or put a load in washer in case he does something 'wrong'

NO-ONE will be touching my new hoover!!!!!!!! I guess I can't be so strict about my fridge but if they mess it up I will not be happy!!!

No no no McDreamy - you must let everyone in the family share your enthusiasm about new appliances and learn to use them. Do you want to be the only person in your home to do cleaning and housework [stern]?

I do not want them using my hoover - I am quite protective about my hoovers!!

Hmm. I think that's an unfeminist position

i made dh say goodnight to the new washing machine last night it was a sneeky way of showing him how it works in the vague hope that he might decide to do some laundry every now and again

I love getting new household appliances and gadgets. Although it is like an addiction and when the novelty wears off I crave for something else.
