Any consequences of washing on a short wash only?

Noone's clothes in this house get particularly dirty, do you think it would be ok to switch mostly to the 30 minutes wash (but with 40 degrees) or better to have a full wash (approx 1 and a half hours) at 40 degrees?

Not just environmentally but if anyone has done this are your clothes 'clean' enough?

I do this, our clothes aren't dirty just need freshening up. If there is a stain I treat it first.

use less powder though (1/2 suggested dose) else you may find it's not rinsed out fully

There is a bit in this article that should help under washing times.

I use my 30min cycle most of the time for lightly soiled stuff - always seems just as clean to be honest.

My 30 min cycle is also 30degrees and I use a small amount of biological powder and some Comfort pure - definitely not the recommended amounts

Our clothes are really dirty, and I use the quick wash and 30 - and am generally pleased with the result - they all smell lovely, but some are still a bit stained - although I used to find this with 60 and full length wash as well. Use vanish occassionally, and very occassionally do a 40 full length when things are dire. Experiment, you'll probably be pleasantly surprised as I was.

We had a 'worn once' setting on your last washer and we re-named it 'worn once and washed twice'

Alright if the stuff isn't actually dirty in any way, but if it isn't, why wash it?

most short cycles can only take a very small load

my machine says 1kg (its a 6kg drum)

so i figure its actually better to use the normal wash while its full (i only ever do full loads)

We used the quick wash at my Dads and although the clothes seemed clean they smelled so strongly I am sure they didn't rinse well enough. I don't like clothes smelling of washing powder of fabric conditioner. If you can smell it it is still on the clothing surely??
