opinions please, GLOSS!!!

can i lightly sand wood work (already coated in gloss) then gloss after wiping down etc or do i need to use an undercoat first?
Does it make a difference?

you can gloss straight onto the gloss after sanding. you need a primer on bare wood.

thankyou iv asked cause my sis has said just lightly sand then gloss my dad said iv got to use undercoat so i was after more opinions cause that made me confused
