How do I remove the discolouring on a highchair

I have just got DD's highchair out of the loft in preparation for my baby(I know it won't need it for a fair while but DH said there was mould on it so we thought we better get it down and clean it up!!!). Anyway whilst it was in the loft and from DD's food whilst she was using it the straps and the trims are now a nasty shade of off white. Does anyone know how I go about returning them to there lovely clean white colour.

I had originally thought that the straps couldn't be removed but I have managed to get most of them off, one is sewn in. Obviously the trims cannot be removed. Now can I just use bleach on the straps etc?

Sorry i'm a complete 'blonde' when it comes to how to clean things and would appreciate anyones advice.

Thanks

I really don't get why with high chairs the straps can't be removed, it's crazy as they always get gunky.

Anyway with my highchair I used to take it outside when it needed it with a bowl of hot soapy water, scrubbing brush and scourer and completely scrub in every nook and cranny and rub the straps with the scourer. Then use the hosepipe to rinse it off, turn it upsidedown to dry for an hour or so before bringing it back in shinning!

stick it in the bath with some water and bleach.

Yep, it's bloomin silly about the straps!!! I have just used a bowl of warm soppy water and scourer but my highchair is in need of a little more TLC, it's very very discoloured!!!!!!

But I will take the advice about scrubbing it outside once the baby is using it again. Why did i not think of that(maybe because i'm a cleaning dunce????!!!)

But if i can't get it back to white first I really will have to invest in a new one as it'll be too embarrassing and unhygenic to use

Colditz, if I do that will the rest of the highchair lose it's colour? It's a plastic coated one so I don't think it will but thiugth i'd ask

ok would use biopowder (for whites not colours) which contain optical brighteners (aka bleach)

soak the straps in this for a while, then rinse and leave on the washing line to dry so the UV in the sun can bleach it back to white as well!

good luck!

Thanks for the advice, i have tried the bleach in the bath thing. Straps and trims are cleaner and no discolouring of the rest so it's all good!!!

I'll soak the straps overnight tonight i think and see if they go back to being white! They are still a manky looking creamy yuk colour
