Please recommend a good mouse repellent

I have a mouse in my loft. I am an animal lover and I am against mouse traps and poison. I need an animal friendly repellent.

There isn't a reliable one, and once you have one mouse you may well soon have many.

Peppermint oil is meant to workplace (didn't for me) as is feline predator wee/poo (not tried).

Sorry - couldn't resist! Steel wool jammed into gaps and holes in woodwork stops them getting through.

You have to find out (and block up with wire wool) where they're getting in and out. I used old fashioned moth balls but resorted to humane traps (8!) and released them at least 2 miles away the little fe kerbs have inbuilt sat navs if closer
Bait traps with melted chocolate or peanut butter.

I've just had this problem but with Rats instead! I agree with P1nkP0ppy that you must find the hole/s they are getting in through and block it up.

I used expanding foam to block up the holes which where behind the kickboards in my kitchen (a common place for rats and mice to get in I think). Anyway this solved the problem without using poison or traps which I wasn't prepared to use.

These plug in things are brilliantly effective (we needed more than one because of stone walls and solid floors). No harm done to the mice at all, they just didn't want to come in.I think it was this one

Oh and lots of peppermint oil.
