Rubber broom recommendations please

I have long hair that falls out at a ridiculous rate. You can almost see a trail behind me on the floor as I move around so how I'm not bald I don't know. This is constantly causing a problem when hoovering as I have to keep stopping to unclog the rollers all the time. I read somewhere about using a rubber broom to get the hair up before using the hoover, does anyone have any experience of using them? I need to be able to do it on carpet and would appreciate it if anyone could let me know a) whether they work and b) which ones are good.

We got one from JML years ago. Brilliant on hard floors! Doesn't do anything on carpet though.
