Decluttering - where to get rid of random Craft stuff?

Help!

I'm clearing out the craft room, which tbh is in such a dire state that I'm not at all sure what is in there. It will be a while before I hit carpet.

I've got a lot of stuff that I just need to get shot of, a lot of which is not really binnable - brand new and in perfect nick, I just didn't get round to using it.

Tbh if I have to get it properly categorised/organised before I can get it out of the house I might as well just give up now; I need to get rid of bags of stuff just to get halfway across the room and it's all jumbled up. So ebay is not a runner, nor car boot, and there's too much of it imo to take to a charity shop - they won't shift it and will have to bin most of it themselves.

It mostly tends to be sewing-based, though it's not that simple. Of course.

Any suggestions? I was thinking maybe school/college but not sure if they would take it either.

I normally donate craft stuff to my DC's school.

Or if you thought it wasn't suitable for school use, you could post it on Freecycle?

If your kids are at secondary school - or you know someone who is - then their Design department would probably bite your hand off, it is like mine

School would probably be interested. To be a bit stereotypical with the sewing aspect, a senior care home/residential home might be interested

Agreed with previous suggestions, but also: local library. Mine runs a children's session every week and later on in the hour the older kids get to do arts & crafts. The library budget is crap so they really appreciate donations like yours.

If the school aren't able to take it, put it on Free cycle - people will be queuing up for it! Even if you say it's unsorted, someone with more time on their hands will likely be keen to take it and see what they can use, and then they can re-Freecycle whatever they don't want!

What about an open bin bag shot(s) on eBay. Bargain craft bag mainly sewing stuff, no need to list each bit. You could sell by the bag.

You could try your local theatre ours loves donations of sewing stuff.

Our hospice also loves craft donations - they run an active craft club.

preschool, freecycle, our local FB selling pages, toddler groups, and if textiles, try patchwork people.
