What's the best carpet cleaning machine right now?

I know it's been done before and I've read past threads on this. Does anyone know what's a good carpet cleaner to buy now?

After a ds1 vomiting incident last night and the general sick and poop mini accidents spread by 1yo ds2 I'm realising I need to clean our carpets!

So was just going to hire someone to do it but dh suggests buying one.

There's a few good looking vax ones on amazon and I'd be tempted to go with the best seller.

Anyone know more recent which best buys?

Bissell ones look expensive with a risk of breaking down.

Any advice gratefully received!

TIA

I've got the Vax Dual V - when I cleaned the carpets in the house we'd just moved into, the water was black Shock I think it's very good, but haven't tried any others to compare. The main downside is that it is big and quite heavy, plus you have to fill the tanks then empty and clean it after using it, so you need to set aside a chunk of time to use it. This means that I don't use it as often as I should. The results are always great when I do (although there are some stubborn stains on my stairs carpet that it hasn't shifted in multiple cleans).

Thanks nowhere. I don't think any of them look that easy to use because you have to fill and empty. How long do you spend doing that?

Does your have an attachment for doing upholstery?

I'm worried i will spend a chunk of cash then it will break so be a bad investment. I'm not planning to use it often!

This is the one I have:
www.amazon.co.uk/Vax-V-124A-Upright-Carpet-Upholstery/dp/B000Y828JO?tag=mumsnet&ascsubtag=mnforum-21
I bought from Amazon about 18months ago and it was about £180 when I got it.

Yes, it has an upholstery attachment and a spin scrubby brush for the stairs. It comes with a 6 year guarantee. There are some pictures on Amazon showing before & afters and the dirty water tank etc. and very helpful reviews.

Getting it set up probably doesn't take that long. Maybe 10 mins or so and then a bit longer for cleaning & putting away etc.

Does anyone have a Karcher carpet cleaner? They look smaller in size (lighter) and I only have a small cottage. I also need something I can lift easily to do stair carpets etc. as I'm of the 'older generation!'

I have been using Rug Doctor Model: 93300 and I am satisfied with its performance but before using a carpet cleaner I use carpet rake for easy and better cleaning
