Small whiteish grey insects at night

I hope I'm not alone in this. DH spent the last couple of nights sleeping in the spare room because otherwise I would have murdered him for snoring (but that's a different thread) While he was sleeping he could feel himself being bitten. My first thought was bed bugs but he said that they were on the wall on crawling onto the pillow. They were tiny whiteish grey insects. I've googled some pictures but DH says it's not any of those. They disappear during the day and he's only seen them in the middle of the nigh. I've steamed the carpet and the mattress but I would really love to know if anyone else has had this?

Is it silverfish? I don't think they bite though.

Silverfish are like you describe, but they are harmless, and don't bite AFAIK!

There have been loads of tiny black thunder flies over the last week. They don't bite but they will make you itch. It may just be the weather, it is bringing out insects I've never seen before ( we are on the edge of woodland and already get a good selection!)

Silver fish fit the description but they don't bite.

Could you have fleas?

Definitely not fleas. These are much much smaller. Ended up calling an exterminator who said they're house mites. We sprayed the walls in the room and have seen them since.

House mites aka mould mites, I think. They like warm damp environments so you need to make your house cold and dry.

Thanks for the replies. We seem to have gotten rid of them!
