Yes, boring Sunday afternoon thread! I need a new sofa with removable covers and I'm either underwhelmed by choice or overwhelmed at price.

Does anyone have an Ektorp? Would you comment on it? Comfort?

We just got a white one second hand for £50, it's fine. I really wanted one for the washable/dyeable covers. It had been in a kids playroom so was grubby but washed up really well. The length of the two seater is great for putting your feet up on! It fitted in the back of the car which was a bonus too!

My mate has 2 in white in her living room. They look great and are v comfortable. We have the even cheaper klippans- I like the sparseness of them but mostly chosen because we needed cheap and durable.

I have one in my kitchen, it's comfy and indestructible. The cushions do get saggy sooner than a more expensive sofa, but I quite like the "lived in" feel.

We have two in the conservatory and they have lasted well. They haven't faded in the sun, which I thought they would.

They obviously don't get as much use in there as in a sitting room, but after seven years they still look like new.

We've had the armchair and two seater in white for 6 years and they're still in really good condition. The covers washed really well and came up as new for the first five years - its only in the last year with a toddler and her grubby hands that they've taken a bit of a battering and are starting to look a bit marked on the arm rests. But the basic structure still sound and I'll be getting (darker) replacement covers in the next year or so. Really good value for money.

I've a nine year old one and a new one. The old one has done truly sterling service and has only startee ro look tired in the past year or so since DD1 jumps on it too much.

V comfortable. The old two seater one had an adult sleep on t every night for about three years and still looked great. I'm putting it in the playroom with a throw over it.

I was just going to ask if anyone had a convertible one! Are they comfy to sleep on as a couple (DM comes to stay with her DP quite often).

We have the 3 seat 2 seat & the armchair.

Still going strong in a house with 3 adults 4 children and a dog (who isn't meant to but sleeps on it every night)

We've got a cream three seater. The covers are a bastard to get on and off but worth it once they're washed and back on again.

We've had ours for four years and its getting a bit creaky and saggy, but this is mainly because DH has a knack of chucking himself down into it so his favoured side sinks a bit!

I'd recommend it every time. We're going to be moving soon and will most likely replace it with the same model but with more a more child friendly cover colour!

We've got the corner one which is also a sofa bed. Its great! We replaced the white covers with some lovely green ones but it wasn't until we came to wash them (the whole point of ektorp is washable covers right?) we realised they were dry clean only!

We have a ektorp in the boy's playroom which is also a sofa bed.

We have had it for 3 year with two children using it as their personal play gym, has faired very well. Sofa bed wise, we have had lots of people to stay, dead easy to get out and put back (ie I can do it)

I can highly recommend.

We had 2 three seaters that have only been replaced recently after 12 years and it was only as DH put his foot through the base of one! We had a few sets of covers in different colurs that all washed up great. I would have replaced the broken one with another but DH has bought some expensive ones from DFS that I am paranoid will get stains on!

Oooh, I've been wanting to get an Ektorp for ages - try them out every time we go to Ikea and find them very comfy and love the idea of removable, washable covers. Our current leather sofas are crap. We bought them from Land of Leather which then promptly went into administration a few months after our purchase. They started falling apart a year after we bought them
