Miele hoover bags

Bought a Miele hoover and love it, now need to buy some more dustbags and am shocked at the price!

Can I use alternatives, or do I need to use the proper Miele ones? Will I invalidate my warranty by using alternatives? Does anyone have any links to some bulk packs so I can at least save a bit if I use the proper ones?

I regularly buy some really good non-Miele bags from eBay, the seller is Barty40 (Barton Appliance Spares). They are good quality, self seal just like the Miele ones, and are much cheaper.

I have this quandary as well.. Amazon sells some copies that seem to get fairly good reviews.
IMO its worth the cost of the bags - now I don't have to go to ridiculous lengths (coat hangers, hoses) to unblock the flipping dog hair from the bagless vacuum, I love my Miele.
No idea about the warranty but can't imagine it would invalidate it just have a spare one ready to put in when the repair man comes

the synthetic white ones are much better than the old brown paper bags - they catch finer dust, and don't clog.

www.dustbag.co.uk do some which seem OK

Be sure to always gave some spare fine filters as well. You can wash them, after a while you'll have enough to change each time you change the bags.

It will fill the bag quickly at first because it is picking up all the dirt that your old vac missed. Future bags will last longer.

Cheap ones fill up much quicker so clearly they are smaller
The suck isn't as good on cheap ones as the bag fills, the suck lessens.

So whilst they are ok and do the job, I do think they are a false economy

I used to get mine from Go Electrical (ages ago). They worked, but weren't quite as nice. Budget won, though!

Not sure about the size thing, but there are several different shapes and sizes (identified by letter, I think ours are size G)

So look it up in the instructions and write it inside the lid with felt-tip.

I buy microfibre ones on ebay which are about 80p-£1 a bag instead of £2.50 a bag. I've tried paper bags and they split repeatedly. I've used this company a couple of times and been very impressed with them and the bags.

Good point Piglet, I hadn't thought that the later bags might last longer.

I think I will try and buy the official ones cheapish, or use some of the links posted to buy very similar compatible ones.

I checked and we have always got ours from Dustbag. The suction is strong enough to lift rugs as you Hoover them - so no compromise there. When full they entirely fill the space available in the Hoover, so no issues there either. They work out at less than a pound each, so much better value.

We use Dustbag to get similar semi-fabric type bags with seal. Seem to work fine.

I got some good ones on ebay, but I can't remember the seller. I would definitely buy more. I tried to buy from dustbag.co.uk ages ago but you had to use google checkout which I refuse to do so I couldn't.

I found the cheapest in the way of an actual shop is John Lewis, and just in case you need it, they sell chandelier cleaner. you can order them online and pick up at JL or Waitrose.

Thanks all - I bought the real deal from amazon in the end - £9 for a box of four with filter and some other thing that needs changing too. Best deal I could find in the end and floors were getting skanky from lack of hoovering
