HELP!! I've ruined my son's Christmas Present!

I have just put my son's new football shirt in the wash together with his kit he played football in this morning, which included a new royal blue skin (undershirt). I have been washing football kits for 10 years BUT the white cotton collar on the black and white Newcastle United has turned blue from the skin Angry.

It hasn't turned any of the nylon type material blue, just the cotton collar. Should I try and bleach the collar only? Confused

try vanish with bleach..you can just put the vanish on the collar and then stick the whole top back in the wash.. good luck

Agree with frasersmummy but put a colour catcher in the load as well just in case.

Get some colour run remover to soak it in, it's always best to keep some in reserve.

Homebargains do it cheaper, the cost in the supermarkets is eyewatering.

It's still the same after a second wash with vanish soaked on the collar. Thank you - I will try colour run remover. Otherwise it looks like Zi may have go visit the club shop again Sad!

If all else fails then bleach will probably work, but how you keep the bleach off the rest of the shirt, goodness only knows. Worth trying, these shirts cost a fortune, I am always worried about staining them! (Not Newcastle ones of course Grin)

I will definitely hunt down some colour run remover in the morning.

He is ten Chipping and as it was a Christmas present had his name and premiership badges on each sleeve - was £60 Shock.

Tiger was thinking same about the bleach - it literally touches the black bits so it would never be perfect :-(.

What about rubbing vaseline into the black bit to act as a water barrier and then applying bleach to the white/blue collar?

I'm kinda thinking its ruined anyway so may as well give it a shot.

Should any of the black be bleached off I would colour it in with a permanent marker to fill in the bleached bits. It may take a few bleachings and colouring in to get the right white/black colour.

I would use a lot of vaseline, to make sure it protected the black part.

Thanks solider. I agree that it's ruined already so might as well try - had not thought about using Vaseline ....

But vaselines greasey - that'll add oil marks too :( would not recommend.

Did you soak it overnight? First time I did my pillowcase it needed an overnight soak.

No fluffy, I soaked it for 5 hours with both packets. I then tried one more wash ..... oh dear, hope I haven't been to hasty - although to be honest there was no change whatsoever ...
