Can you part time H/E?

DD (7) enjoys school and I would have no wish to take her out of school full time. However she's struggling with the academic side of things and falling behind further and further.

I've tried helpng her at evenings/weekends but she's tired and there isn't enough time to give her as much input as she needs.

Have a meetign with the headmaster next week and one thing I'm thinking of raisign is the possibility of me taking her out of school one day a week so we have more time for me to give her one-on-one help. Am I allowed to do this?

In theory, you might be able to flexi-school, though it does depend on the school being happy to do it, and I believe you would have to cover the parts of the NC she was missing those days, so you would not be completely free to do what you wanted with the time.

Personally, I would be more inclined to push the school into dealing with her needs - they really ought to be able to deal with this without you having to "take up the slack" for them! Does she have specific difficulties, or is she just not keeping up? If she really needs 1-to-1 help, maybe she should be getting this from a TA in school?

Sorry if that sounds negative, I HE myself so I'm not against it, but it sounds like you're being forced into it by the school's failure rather than because it's the best thing for you as a family.
