Bathroom paint in bedroom?

Wonder if anyone has any thoughts on this?

I'm about to embark on painting DD's bedroom. Her outside wall (i.e. the wall where the window is) is going to be her "feature wall", so painted a different colour to the others and wall stickers added.

In the past, the wall has become mildewed due to things too close to the wall. I cleaned it at the time with vinegar though it's still a bit stained. I was going to sugar soap it before painting.

I wondered whether it would be worth painting that wall with a bathroom paint, since it says on the tin it is mould resistant? (I also have learned my lesson about putting anything against that wall!) Would that be an OK thing to do in a bedroom?

If the existing paint is still stained you should probably do it with stain blocker first, but I can't see why you shouldn't use bathroom paint in a bedroom.

Where has the damp come from that caused the mildew though? Through the wall from outside or from condensation in her room?

I'm pretty sure it's condensation in her room. She had a dressing up rail against one side of the wall and it got mildewey behind that. She left the door of her wardrobe open on the other side of her room for a couple of months, blocking air flow and it got mouldy behind that too. I scrubbed it down at Easter and none has appeared since.

Zinsser is what professionals use but there are brands like Polycell too

If there's not a lot of staining you could use the aerosol, which is cheaper (but brush might be less messy)

Having something up against a wall should not cause mildew to appear on the wall. I think you need to find out the source of the problem before you start decorating as it will probably just appear again and you'll have to decorate again.

Same problem it's caused by condensation in our case just got a dehumidifier ... Fingers crossed . Mould mildew removed cheans it off . I have also thought about bathroom paint as it's also hard wearing .

We've had condensation problems on and off caused by lack if ventilation etc. Now that's been solved and we have a dehumidifier as well, all three bedrooms have bathroom paint, and the hall, and we've not had any mould since, well worth doing
