Roman blinds- question about how 'dark ' a light fabric will be.

Okay- am replacing wooden venetian with a Roman blind. I have Romans in guest rooms with blackout linings. They are pale cream. I don't know how much darker the room would be with a dark fabric plus a black out lining. it's for my bedroom and I can't bear the light coming in. Ideas?

We have dark blue curtains in our bedroom and they block a tremendous amount of light. They are lined, but not with black out linings. The living room under the bedroom, so same aspect, has pale coloured curtains and the difference is significant. But black out linings should do the trick for you.

I would recommend looking for a local curtain maker and getting them made to measure. For maximum light blackout, I suggest four layers - face fabric, fluffy interlining, blackout lining, normal lining. Not only will they keep light out but they will look very plush. If you have a bay window you will always get some light with blinds. If you can sew they are not too difficult to make. I can send you a link to a tutorial if interested.
