French door curtain/blinds dilemma

We have a set of French doors with a small window on each side in our dining room. We currently have HUGE curtains. However I'm getting a bit fed up with them & wondered if we could put blinds up instead?
We need the windows not to be covered in the day as the house would be too dark but we need to be able to cover them at night to keep the heat in & for security.
As we have an open plan house we have a bay window at the front which will need to be done to match.
Any ideas? I am totally crap at this kind of thing. In an ideal world I'd have an interior designer but I'll need to win the lottery first 😔

As someone who hates curtains, it would be blinds for me.

Hi maybe have Roman blinds, you can have them raised fully during the day & down for the night, they look really neat & tidy can have them in plain or patterned fabric, can be bought either ready made or bespoke.

Do you open the French doors at all? The only reason I am asking is because depending on which blind option you go for means you could end up with the blinds being sucked outside (if full length) or being blown around hanging down from the top (roller or Roman)

We have the same situation, French doors with windows either side but is also a square bay so we have windows at a right angle to the side windows. We have perfect fit roller blinds as they tuck away inside the casing at the top. They are completely up in the day and retain the warmth at night. These are in our lounge and we don't have any curtains, just the blinds.

We also have Roman blinds, horizontal Venetian blinds and traditional roller blinds in our house but not in the same room as the French doors.

We use the doors in the summer & I have to admit it was my worry that they'd get sucked outside when the windows are open - I quite like the idea of blinds, they look neater & the cats can't crawl up them 😸😸
