I know the argument for/against wood was discussed a couple of years ago, but wanted an update as always something new...
I am getting a new kitchen and while I would love a change from laminate I am not sure, I want low maintenance and I don't want to break everything I drop on a hard surface really. Has anyone tried glass? Recycled or otherwise, or tiles, but aren't they hard to keep the grout clean on? Any ideas anyone. Has to be low maintenance as aim to rent out some rooms now I have 3/4 at uni and I am working at home on two business!!! No I never iron anything and have never..... creases drop out when you wear stuff!!

Don't have a tiled worktop - awful to keep clean and you can't do things like roll out pastry directly on the worktop.

We have just installed a quarz worktop in our small kitchen. Low maintenance, not easy to stain and looking stunning. The only down turn is that because of the premium quality this is quite pricey as well.
