try Roger Oates - they are wonderful but a bit pricey. There are others out there which are a bit cheaper but the ROs ones are the best I think. In our last house we bought runners in Turkey and used those.

Oh thank you and aaargh, they have two that would be PERFECT but are just out of my (maternity leave) price range! At least I've got something to work towards now

There is a colour that matches the carpet in the john lewis carpet in the photo, it called solar from brockway carpets, product code sol 144. Would be very affordable to do & is a good quality 50 ounce 2 ply warn is the sign of a good quality 80/20 wool twist carpet. Retails for a round £39.00 per square metre.
