I am painting some shelves set in a kitchen alcove. I have painted them a chalk paint green and the wall just behind the shelves the same green but it looked a bit dark when I'd finished the first coat so I experimented with a few different wallpapers behind just the 5 shelves (the pictures are a bit misleading as the roll of wp has fallen as far as the floor: ignore that bit). So this is the wallpaper I love but it looked awful with the paper so I figured I'd have to paint the shelves grey (there is a sample grey shelf sitting on the second last shelf). Anyway, the green looks a bit better today (and I've put some cups on the shelves as that is what they will be for) and I am wondering if I need to paint the shelves after all and if the green is not anywhere in the wallpaper will that matter - what do you think??? Add wallpaper? Add wallpaper and paint shelves grey?? Leave shelves green and forget the wallpaper?? Paint the shelves any colour but green??
I am cross-eyed from looking at these shelves so unable to decide anything. FWIW the room is very small and dark. (PS Exhibit 2 and 1 show the green truer than 3)
