bevelled or non bevelled brick tiles

We are fitting a traditional bathroom in an Edwardian house. I want it to be timeless and in keeping. I know white metro tiles were fashionable a couple of years ago. I don't want to be fashionable though.

Would bevelled or non bevelled tiles look best. I am think black and white floor and possibly green tiles. I am aware it can look like a toilet or swimming pool but that doesn't bother me!

Beveled in your period house.

I have bevelled tiles in my kitchen from a previous owner. I like the look of them, but they are harder to clean. As I am a clean freak, I would go with smooth in future.

Now I hadn't even considered the keeping them clean angle.
