I've just started looking and am shocked at the difference in prices. we want (I think!) a divan with two large drawers and two little drawers by the bedside tables. but they se to range in price from £800 to £4500!!! why. can anyone enlighten me! oh and I don't want a memory foam mattress. slept on one a few weeks ago - worse nights sleep ever for me! We just bought a bed. A divan in a sale. Has 2 drawers. Cost £399. I learned that beds vary depending on quality ofnthe mattress and if a dian whether the base is upholstered and padded and to what quality. Some beds are massively expensive but bet they last forever

Spend what ou can afford as you spend alot of time in it!

Thank you. Am hoping to go to bed shop this week to get the sales speech!

don't look at the price until you've tried them would be my advice. try them all, as many as you can. pick a top 3 and then see what price they are.

we spent a LOT on our mattress ( but very little on a bed frame), but I am SOOOOOO glad we did because it's the most comfy bed in the universe.

We've got this bed - it's not a divan but has storage in it, it's a fab & beautiful bed, really well made too
We bought it in the sale, and the mattress from elsewhere.

We bought a Sealy bed recently and it's really nice. Make sure you look around though and test out as they all differ even if they are both "firm" in different manufacturers. For a king size divan (with 2 drawers) we spent £450 from Bensons for Beds. You can really negotiate with them. Get a free headboard and make sure you spend the most on the matress.

A bed is a long term investment and one of the most important investments you will make. When looking for a new bed, the most important thing you should look for is comfort. There are many different types of beds available, so take the time to find the one that is right for you.

We tried lots of different mattresses in mainstream shops, deciding on the type of mattress we wanted first. Then we found a tweeny independent local shop (that looked like everything arrived after falling off the back of a truck!) which bought excess stock from the big chains. We got a top-rated mattress for well under half the retail price of the big chains. So it's definitely worth looking out for any little shops like that in your area. Five years on and I still love our bed - it's better quality than some 5* hotel beds!

We have a feather and black one. Dh's side is firmer than mine as he is heavier than I and it has made a huge amount of difference to our comfort and when not bloody pregnant amount if sleep I get.
