Home decoration

i've made a mistake

so i chose a wallpaper i love for my living room. it's up and it looks great. i've bought curtains and cushions to match the colours. the paper is only on the wall that the fireplace is on.

the mistake is that this doesn't go with the theme i want to decorate the rest of the house in. i really love the colours used in penny's (big bang theory) apartment. i have loved it for ages but i didn't have the guts to go for it when i was doing the living room so i went for safe and chose the grown up wallpaper. i want to go for penny's theme now but i dont want to have to change my wallpaper, i still love it. is there anyway i can incorporate it into the rest of the theme/rooms without it looking 'wrong'? i can change my living room curtains and cushions as they were very cheap so that's no issue. i just need to find others that will go with the wallpaper but not match. does that make sense?

any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Anyway, those walls are duckegg, just not patterned! Just go for bolder, plain accessories and less pattern on furniture etc, the wallpaper will look amazing.

i like the second link you gave, good colours (the first ahs too much pink but i know i dont have to use that much). i was worried the wallpaper was too grannyish and wont go, i picked it as it reminds me of being in my parent's friends' house as a young child, they were pensioners but i loved being there. it makes me feel cosy, even though it's blue.

the other walls in my living room are cream (haven't got round to painting yet) should i paint them the blue that's in the wallpaper or a different colour altogether?

i was thinking of painting them a warm grey but not sure if that would suit the theme? Confused

I think warm grey would be good, then go mad with the accessories

thanks loops, you've been great. i'm never sure of my own taste so it's good to hear someone else say it's ok.
