Going rate for London nanny

We are hoping to employ a nanny to help us out for a few months after our third baby arrives early in the summer. We already have a 20 monther and a three year old.

Can anyone give me an idea of weekly (gross or net of tax) going rates for nannies in the London area on the basis of her living out, but not being sole charge?

Nannies get around £100 - £150 a day, and you pay the tax & NI on top of that. A Mother's Help (where you are there all the time and helping her look after the kids) is usually cheaper. Simply Childcare in SE5 (get the number through directory inquiries) area good way to advertise for a nanny and if you call them they can tell you exactly how much that is a week.

Steady on ALoha, rates aren't that bad! That would mean a nanny was costing an employer £1000 a week. The standard rate at london at the moment for a live out Nanny 50 hours a week is £350 net (around £500 or so gross).

My understanding also was that a live-out nanny would take home about 70-80 a day, which would give a gross of about 90-100. and this would be qualified, sole charge. I was quoted these figures by more than one agency and the simply childcare people.

We have a nanny-share in SW London and between the 2 families we pay £84 per day plus tax, for a qualified sole-charge live-out nanny from 8am to 6.30pm. The tax works out at around £420 per quarter between us.
