Work

Finally leaving work....

Finally after forever thinking about it I AM LEAVING WORK, just about to start negotiating voluntary redundancy with my boss.

Then we have to tart up the flat, sell it and move out to the country. We have to live off less than half our current income and start all over again.

But not scared, just incredibly excited - going to be at home with my boys. Every morning I want to hug them and say mum will be looking after you very soon...

No doubt that will be the end of my mumsnet addiction as I certainly won't have any time.

well done Kaz22 - brought tears to my eyes

Where will you be moving to?

WOW! Big brave move Kaz ... I really hope it goes well for you. I have two boys close in age too, and we decided to make major lifestyle choices in order for me to be SAHM with them. They are 5 and 6 now, and I don't regret it for an instant.

Enjoy it!

Surrey / Sussex borders - renting at first. We are lucky in that DP can work from home so no need to be in London.

Feel very empowered, spoke to boss yesterday and he agreed in principle to paying me off. Just waiting for call from personnel to find out what is on offer. It probably won't be tomorrow - hope they get on with it as I hate having to wait.

Well just seen personnel - deal has been done at 8 months net salay and good reference. Last day is next Friday, bye bye to the City of London.

I feel like the next chapter of my life is about to unfold...

I leave a week today.

The pay off was good. No doubt it could have been better as I had a good discrimination claim. I could see the head of personnel squirming in her chair. But at the end of the day life is too short to squabble about a few sheckles.

DP has just asked for more money at his job, he hasn't a pay rise for three years. That would definitely help.

well one, just a reminder that if the pay off is not in your contract i.e greater than your notice period, then the extra 5 months is tax free up to £30k. that makes it go even further.

Good luck with the new life

Well done, I'm in the same position, but not the redundancy side. I leave work on 27th August to be able to run my daughter (who will be starting school in Sept) backwards and forwards and I'm not scared either, thought I would be, but hey there is a big world out there.

Well in roughly 7 minutes I am leaving my job, off down to the pub for my leaving drinks.

Very odd, excited and a bit scared. If you meet a strange mum with two small boys in Holland or Hyde Park desperately seeking your mobile number it will be me - looking for mates

Well I'm counting down the weeks now, just got 2.5 weeks to go , found myself a little part time position in DD school, so I start the same day she does (big step for us both), I'm getting quite nervous about leaving as I know there will be a presentation of some kind and I will want the ground to open up and eat me, before that happens, still it shows me that they care in some mode or fashion.....
