hi everyone,
i broke my toe(s) over the weekend two small ones on my left foot, i went to a&e monday and they confirmed they were broken and strapped it up, i rested it on tuesday and felt ok so i went back today and it was painful, uncomfortable and i could hardly concentrate on work. The doctors/hospital already have it on their notes that im being signed off because they dont believe im fit to work under the circumstances and it needs to be elevated to heal, i also commute to work (train a bit of walking and bus) so its not easy for me, however im already feeling guilty and i'm not going back tomorrow, so all in all i'll be having just over seven days off - maybe 8 or 9 , has anyone else had the same problem?

Everyone's circumstances are different. I broke my big toe and it hurt like hell. Doctor gave me codeine and paracetamol and I took one afternoon off work. I had a job that regularly faced redundancy and all the skills matrix things included losing points for days off sick so I used to drag myself in no matter what. I wouldn't advocate that though!

Can you offer to work from home?

Could you work from home? If not, ask your GP about a fit for work certificate detailing some adjustments to help (if they think it appropriate) e.g. working a shorter day so you can commute when it's not so busy - take something to put on the train seat and elevate your foot on the journey.
