Now DD is in full time education it's time for me to get back to work. I am a loan parent with 2 dc and no family or friends to help with childcare so have been on benefits for a while now. My previous jobs have been in retail so would like to go back to that if I can although after doing numerous job searches the only local retail jobs are for Christmas staff which is obviously temporary. Looking for some advice on wether I should wait till something permanent comes up or apply for a Job that I know will have to end in January? If you was in my position what would you do?

That's a tricky one isn't it. I guess the advantage of applying for a Christmas role, is that if the company or shop has already seen you work and liked you, you're more likely to be considered well for a future permanent role. And often employers look more kindly on people who are already in employment so you'd be able to continue to apply for permanent roles. And if something came up suddenly, even Christmas temporary roles will have a notice period, so you'd be able to move on.

Definitely agree with the above post. If an employer likes your work ethnic and you do a good job they often want a full time/permanent person after January. Take the opportunity in front of you now. 3/4 months income will be great and will lead you to other jobs/work. All the very best of luck!!
