Does it actualy mean in hand writing or just apply by letter, my writing is crap and I don't want to scupper myself before I even get an application form ?

Just means apply by snail mail, Skribble. If they want a handwritten letter they will usually specify this quite specifically (she says in a very tautologous manner )

Thanks, I am still in the dark ages when it comes to all this HR stuff. I hate doing letters I never seem to word it right.

What is the basic layout? do you enclose a CV if asking for a form?

It says apply in writing for more info and an application form.

I am not getting excited this time, last time I went for a big grown up job I got to the last to and didn't get it, argh! I didn't even think I had a chance for that one and I even ended up writing out my application on holiday and posting it late.

If you're just asking for a form and more information then I think you can be quite brief at this stage, but businesslike.

Eg:

Dear Ms Bloggs

Re: Childminding Development Officer Vacancy

I am writing to you with regard to the above vacancy which I saw advertised in (name of paper or website). I would be grateful if you would send further information and an application form to me at the address above.

I am very interested in the vacancy as (give your reasons for applying).

I look forward to hearing from you in due course.

Yours sincerely

Ms Skribble
