Hi,
This is my first post here so please be gentle!
I am currently on Mat leave, but only the beginning (Baby is 8 weeks old). I decided to take the full 52 weeks off, so I'm still a while away from returning to work.
Since I finished, the General manager of the business has left and a new one has started. The new GM is already making changes, and she is starting to make personnel changes within my department (I am the department manager). My role wasn't replaced when I left, but we employed someone in a position below me and split my work between Her and between other people in the office
The changes are:

  • getting rid of the person we brought in
  • replacing her with someone from the company she has come from, in my role (just to add this person applied for the mat leave position and we didn't even interview her as CV was poor)
  • creating a new role above mine - I have not been offered the chance of this role (I will be one responsible to this person upon my return)
  • the person in this new role will be responsible for the office when I return (which was part of my role)

She is also trying to change a lot of what I have built up over the 9 years I have been there.
Ultimately, I'm feeling rather pushed out, mainly as they are bringing in someone above me who I am expected to answer to, but also due to the person she is bringing in to do my role as in my opinion, you wouldn't bring someone in to cover mat leave that you worked with at your last place as surely you wouldnt want them as just a temporary fixture of you get my drift? This person lives 2 hours away so I can't imagine she will move house just for a 9 month position....
Anyone have any opinions or suggestions of what I could do? i know I have 9 months before I have to go back, but I feel like come January I'll go back to a job that isn't mine, or even a different job altogether.
Thanks
