What would you do?

Hi all, I hope that you don't mind me posting as I'm not a mum, but I just can't seem to make my mind up about this one.
I sadly had to leave my job last month as I couldn't cope with being screamed and shouted at any more on a daily basis. It's really affected my confidence.
Anyway I've been fortunate enough to have been given two very different job offers and I literally can't decide.
One is a 2 hour round trip, for a big company with excellent prospects that pays £55k. But a long commute to do everyday.
The other is only a 30 minute round trip but for a tiny local company and paying £35k.
I can afford the mortgage on both and know that I'm so incredibly lucky to have two offers on the table.
Which would you choose? Thanks

By two hours do you mean including there and back? Sorry, I'm a bit stupid! IF so, definitely. That's and extra £20k which makes a difference, especially in the long run. If it's two hours for one way- there's no point. You'd be up early and you'd spend loads on fuel or travel costs daily. Does the smaller company have potential- if so you could earn more as the company expands. The only person who can really decide is you!

Good luck.

I agree with Alexa if it is 2 hours commuting a day, then I'd suggest that is average. However 4 hours is more difficult.

Where are you in your life stage? Could you move to nearer the higher paid role if works? Are you hoping/planning for kids soon? 4 hours commute pregnant isn't ideal if you suffer during your pregnancy etc.

Which one are you more excited about?

Sorry both, it's one hour each way. We are planning on having children but not for a couple of years. Think I'm going to go for the money!!!

An hour each way is nothing really and that's a lot of extra money...

The higher paid job with the longer commute. Use the time to read.

Higher paid, longer commute. If the commute becomes unbearable (although an hour is fine really, and it's only an extra hour a day in total than the other one) then you'll be in a lot stronger position when looking for your next job as you will be at a higher salary level to start bargaining with.

Also, there'll be more chance to progress in the one with a further commute if it's a large company.
