Support thread for SAHM looking to return to work/job hunting

Okay, so I've been job hunting since the start of last school term but the only things that I have been "successful" in is registering with talent/supply pools. Neither have any assignments as yet although they are both meant to be term time only.

I have been looking for something more permanent and secure but alas I wasn't successful in the interview and feel rather disheartened by not having recent experience. Anyone else in the same boat care to share about their experiences in job hunting after a long hiatus? Feel free to have a moan, offer advice, encouragement, support or whatever on here.

I've been out for 4 years from teaching but I don't want to go back to that.

Hi, could you tutor? That is a big thing round here. What about school admin? Does that interest at all? I know Universities often have term time roles as well so check out any local to you on their jobs pages.

There is also exam invigilation they are advertised through local govt webbies same as teaching but that is very seasonal.

I think the key thing is to keep looking. If the school admin appeals how about some volunteering?? I applied for a couple of these and lost out due to lack of direct school experience in the office.

HTH for now - keep your chin up and keep trying

I feel your pain! I'm looking to return to work after 2 years out. However, I only want to go back part time and DH works away in the week so I'm not very flexible at all. Which isn't really helping! I've had a couple of interviews but no joy at all yet.

It's very disheartening. I have a degree and a masters, and years of working, which suddenly doesn't seem to mean anything.
