Adding a signature to an email job application

Sorry, I'm probably being obtuse... but what is the accepted convention in the UK, nowadays?

Do I just type my name in the signature box?
Do I scan my signature in and put a GIF of it in the box?
Do I do whatever they are talking about on this page?

Thanks if you have a clue what I should do.

DH reckons I should print it out, sign it, then scan it back in and send the signed version (pdf format).

Am not convinced, though.

I've just typed my name in the past & haven't had any problems.

Definitely don't do what your DH says! They'll want the form in the original format.

Original format is what I think, too.

I typed my name for an application and was asked to sign it on arrival for interview.

typed it! Done this myself this week a few times!

Thanks, I have typed in the boxes & submitted it that way.
Bit :( I don't have any other jobs to chase up right now, but will check again Tuesday or Weds, I guess.
