Anyone know of childcare in/near Watton at Stone and/or Hertfordshire?

Someone I know is having a baby this summer and live around this area. They are looking for a nursery or childminder, or possibly other options, in or around this village. Or possible other areas in the same area of Hertfordshire where there is a station close by.

Trouble is they will need longish hours as they catch a train just after 7:10am and don't get back home until 6:30pm. I think it will be 3 days a week, and there may be some flexibility on a later start or finish - she is still working on that.

Any suggestions or solutions very grateful. She is worrying about this I know.

Thanks.

I live in a Village just up from Watton At Stone.

There is a Jigsaw Day nursery in the Leisure Park in Stevenage which is next to the train station, not sure what age they take babies from or what hours they provide care from, but that does sound long hours. In fact, there are several day nurseries in Stevenage.

I know of several child minders but they dont have any vacanices. Depending on when she wants to go back to work she probably needs to put her name down very quickly for a place or find a childminder quickly. A friend of mine needed a childminder for her 2 for 2 days a week and had to split them up as she found it very tough to find childminders with vacancies.

So the earlier she starts the better.

Get her to look at this website, may give her some help in getting in touch with people.

Thank you

She said Stevenage is too far away because of the extra train/travel. She would struggle even more with the commute.

I have found the names of 3 childminders in the village and at leats one quotes that they start at 7am. So have passed them on.

Baby isn't sue until June and she is planning on having the full 6 months mat leave - so she has a few months yet - will be around Christmas time I guess.

She would probably have to settle for childminders then as I think probably Stevenage is her nearest town and probably the nearest nursery.

How about putting the baby in a nursery near to where she works, then if there are any problems she is only mins away instead of hours.

She works central London and doesn't want baby to do the train/tube commute.

I have sent her the childminder info I found.

Thanks.
