....I opened my DD's book bag today and I saw a drawing one of her friends did at school (they tend to share them) - OMG it was a house, think tudor style, she had drawn it in pencil first, windows, beams, the detail on it was amazing, and then all coloured and cut out - wow! Then to top it up she'd written something behind it, it said "here is a game we play. You go first then I come after you". She's only in reception!!! I might tell her mum, how clever I think her DD is... )

At the end of reception 5yo DS managed to get into top ability groups for maths and English and I foolishly got my hopes up for him -- sadly unrealised as he trundles thru Yr1 now in middle ability groups.

My friends who HE have a DD 4 months older than DS. Their DD has produced detailed drawings covering every inch of their kitchen walls, which look like something my 10yo would draw. "None of our kids are genuises or anything like that", the parents proclaim (most of their children are working 3+ years ahead of age). Their single disappointment is that their littlest DD isn't making much progress at swimming (she is, nevertheless, 2 or 3 levels above DS in swimming ability).

Really puts one in one's place, eh?!
