IEP for DD in Reception

I'm a bit confused about what's supposed to be happening so thought I would try and clarify. Just a bit of background...

Nursery - assessed by Ed Psy as being on 98/99th percentile in 5 cognitive development areas. Transition review meeting set up with Reception teacher. Nursery had some social concerns so Reception teacher put DD on SEN register to sort out - with our agreement.

School - had meeting with teacher (also Senco) and Head (G&Tco). Was told DD was first G&T in school. We said we wanted to concentrate on rounding in Reception. Had IEP for social issues but also mentioned activities for stretching reading etc.

During term - Teacher said she's not even beginning to tap into DD's potential.

New term - new IEP. It's more of the same but we're happy with what they've said. But teacher has said she thinks that it will be DD's last IEP as she has made such good progress.

So that has left me wondering where the G&T element has gone? Or is that going to be dealt with in Year 1 as we've said we're happy to concentrate on rounding for now?

It just means that your little girl now has a good standard of social skills and does not support in that area. Prehaps the teacher can now differentiate that work with normal classroom resources so an IEP is no longer required.

DD has had an IEP since she started Reception (she's quite bright). I think that it's just a formal way of logging what a good teacher would be doing anyway. Maybe your school don't see the point of the form filling?
