Aaagh, sensitive teeth since childbirth - what can I do?

since having DD2 5 weeks ago, my teeth have become agonisingly sensitive - hot, cold or sweet food hurt, drinks hurt and sugary food is the worst. it is all over my mouth, not just on certain teeth. is it something hormonal?

they could have just been weakened, baby takes everything it needs, mine are more sensitive the week I ovulate so def a hormonal link for me.

Try different toothpastes for sensitive teeth and the various mouth washes.

I've it best to use them for a few days then stop rather than continuously IYSWIM the dentist also gave me some other stuff Calgel or something?

You don't rinse the toothpaste out after brushing do you? Use a soft brush too.

you've just reminded me that last time, my dentist said not to rinse and to put some paste on any particularly sensitive bits and leave it on.

I find Sensodyne toothpast fantastic. I get sore teeth when there's nothing wrong with them. This has stopped since using Colgate Total toothpaste. It has an antibacterial agent in it. My dentist says it may be that bacteria causes me pain and this sorts it out.

ask your chemist for fluorogard mouthwash. Works very well

Is it possible that your gums have receeded a little since giving birth and that is why they are sensitive now, where your gums swollen or bleeding in pregnancy? I had trouble with my teeth after pregnancy and you have my sympathies..sensitive teeth are awful.

thank you for your tips. i think maybe my gums did receed a bit while i was pg, although they never bled or seemed to be swollen.
