anyone know how low sodium levels affect heart patients?

dh is pretty upset at being kept in for low sodium levels. want something to show hi,. so he klnows he is in the best place.

Sodium is one of the key chemicals that allows nerves to function properly (other main one being potassium) . If the nerves in the heart cannot fire properly the heart rhythym can go wrong. Will google for you....

they will most probably put him on soime then my sister used to have to take them

they said last time if it didnt pick up by itself (which it did) then they would start slow release ones.

I can't find anything specific, as I keep getting thousands of papres talking about the need for low sodium diets to help prevent hypertension if someone has CHF!

I'm assuming that they have testied him, and found that he is at a sub threashold level.

Salt levels are also crucial in fliud ballance, and you know the need for that only too well!

he is on low sodium diet. but he has been sweating loads the last few days.
