Hi, this is my first posting and am first time mum who could do with some advice. My ds is 12 weeks old and today had very dark green stringy bits - looked a bit like cress!! in his nappy. The only thing we have changed in the last week is that he now having two bottles of formula a day instead of one, not sure if this would be the reason. Many thanks for any help you can give.

DS used to get this sometimes - he was fully breastfed, but I'm sure it's normal. Is he fine otherwise?

Hiya

Green poos are not all that uncommon.. they can be caused by a bit of slight tummy bug or just the fact his last 'meal' shot through the gut quite fast. It can also be a sign that babies are not getting enough to eat, but if he is contented and feeding well and as usual, and his doing lots of wet nappies per day (and gaining weight well still as far as you know) then it is unlikely to be that. Just keep an eye on it.. it persists, check with the health visitor, but chances are his next poo will be normal. Mine have done these type of nappies periodically as young babies.

He seems fine, still feeding well, peeing & pooing regularly but I was just a bit shocked by it as this has never happened before. You know first time mum paranoia !!!
