Don't think there's an awful lot you can do because most of the other stuff out on the market - kids olbas oil, etc. is from 6 months onwards. Guess if he's really snotty and having problems feeding because of it, the chemists will give you saline drops to put up their nose which does clear it all up so at least they can feed.

Only other suggestion I would have on top of the calpol is to raise one end of his cot a couple of inches so that he is sleeping on a slant. This may stop from beconming too congested in the night...and allows all the yucky stuff to drain away.

Oops - I used olbas oil, or karvol or vicks form earlier than 6 months. Put a drop or two on a tissue and tied it outside the bed. Camomile or antiseptic cream under his nose might help the soreness or even vaseline if it isn't red yet. You could put damp towels on radiator or use a humidifer if you have one.

hope he feels better soon

DD had a cold at 2 and a half months, and I was told by the chemist that vicks, snufflebabe etc can be used from 3 months. I've just seen a great thing in \tescos for this; a dummy that you put a piece of cotton wool in ( not the teat obviously!) and then drop a decongestant on it and as they suck the dummy the vapours ease their nose. HTH
