Are molluscum only contagious when the blister has popped?

I think I read about this on one of the web pages I saw, and that this is how children sometimes get lines of them where they have scratched.

This is all news to me so any info is good info. I must look at the old threads for it. Is it itchy for the kids then?

No, not itchy at all, Flik. They can be a bit sore just before they go away but they don't actually do anything, just sit there for a few months.

Twig - I think its probably right. When dd had them on her neck and chin as one red and swollen she would develop another on the opposing surface IYSWIM - same under her arm and on the side of her chest.
