extreme stiffness after birth (ds now 6 months)

Ds is now six months old and since his birth I have found my joints becoming increasingly stiff. I actually wake up in pain every day now, though once I am out of bed and mobile things do improve. Even if I have a half hour nap in the day I wake up with stiff wrists, elbows, knees and feet. I am still breastfeeding. Is there anything I can do/take to soothe this...? I never had these problems before.

Anna, look at this thread - you are not alone!! As the joints you're getting it in are the classic ones for this I wouldn't worry about arthritis unless it doesn't go away once you stop bf.

As for soothing it - seems like only time helps - sorry - though hot baths, massage etc? might help?

Thanks, good to know I am not alone from that thread. Yes, I will go to the GP (finding the time...) but the herbal supplement does sound good as I would like to continue breast feeding if possible.

My DS2 is 10 months and it has eased a bit for me - stopping BF didn't make any difference though, it just seems to have improved over the last few weeks

Me too! I feel very creaky since dd3's birth 4 months ago. lots of back pain and stiff hands. am glad to read all those stories on the other thread that it should go. it's quite scary isn't it? am still bf too.

Me too - my hands are the worst - I was blaming it on the expressing machine I use every day - I thought it was RSI or something.
Elbows sre when lifting ds and feet and knees sore when walking initially.
