6month old ds has just been v. sick and is pooing a lot (has also been sick a few times this week), he seems ok in himself though.

Am just on way to shops to get him something.

What is best to give him?

Can I give him Actimel?

Not an expert, but this sounds like a 24 hour starve job to me - I know it used to work a treat when I and my siblings were little.

You mean no solids, just milk? Or completely nothing just water?

I mean nothing - just water. I remember someone telling me that drinking milk is a no-no after being sick anyway as the acid in the stomach would make it curdle

Thank you Lucy I shall do that for the rest of the night and see what happens.

Stomach acids don't curdle milk or anything - they are fabulously powerful digestive aids - nothing like lemon juice. The human body is designed to digest milk (esp human milk) and pretty much anything you throw at it. My ds was quite often sick and pooed like anything and I thought this was quite normal. If he's got terrible diarrohea then you can give him diarolyte and if it persists then go to the doctor. If it's just lots of poo, even if it is quite soft then I think that's normal. If a baby seems well, then they are well, according to my doctor!

I wasn't clear in last post, he has been sick had runny poos etc before but this time it was more like a proper adult sickness and had been happening for a few days. Took him to the doc in the end as pharmasist would not give diarolyte to an under one. Doc said the new research shows it is best to just keep feeding as normal and give fluids as normal, because the body will use it to clean its self of the bug, and it keeps their strength up so they can fight it quicker. So I'll know next time!

Thanks again, luckily before I went to sit at doc's I got as much water into him as I could and held back on the milk for a few hours and the doc said that was the right thing to do and would of helped.
