I get that ocassionally, usually when I'm lying down, or stretching akwardly as I sneeze. It doesn't happen that often though, next time you feel the urge to sneeze try sitting.
If it doesn't improve maybe you should see a GP again?

Not sure what it is, will see gp again as it has been going on for about 6 years.
Had ultrasound 4 years ago, prodded by drs, they are none the wiser. Definately get worse pain nearer my period. Sometimes if i sit up too quick it also happens. As if it's not bad enough just letting a bit of wee go!Thanks for your responses...ludaloo, is the pain excrutiating and makes you hold your breath, and does it get worse near your period?

Has endometriosis ever been cited as a possible cause?.

Funnily enough, that was what i suspected it to be. My mum had it really bad and had to have hysterectomy, but she also used to get really heavy and painful periods.
My periods have never really changed.
would an ultrasound pick up on endometriosis?

I haven't noticed the pain to be linked to periods TBH...it is painful enough for me to take a breath and wince!
It doesn't happen all that often though, I got it quite a bit during pregnancy too.

Hmmm, perhaps itmight have something to do with scarring?did you have caeserian?
I wonder what other symptoms there are for endometriosis.Wil return to Gp (have different one now) to get it sorted, just seems strange that i was told repro organs in good order and yet pain continues!

An ultrasound scan will not pick up endometriosis. It's usually diagnosed through a keyhole surgery op called a laparoscopy.

There seems to be a family link to endo. This may be gentic, although some researchers believe that family predisposition is not necessarily due to genetic inheritance. It could be environmental. Studies show that endo is present in 7 to 10 percent of first degree female relatives (mother, sister, daughter) of an affected woman, and 2 percent of second degree female relatives (grandmother, aunt, cousin).

Have you ever had any previous abdominal surgery (e.g c-section, appendix removal etc). Any such surgery can cause adhesions (sticky strands) to form and these can tether organs together.

It's one of those things that i forget about, the least of my problems.....until i sneeze and then think 'must find out what that pain is all about'.....then forget about .....etc

The four classic symptoms of endo include:-
painful periods
painful sex (deep pain during sex)
pelvic pain (either continuous or cyclical)
subfertility for some women

As a general rule, any woman suffering from pelvic pain or painful periods, and whose symptoms do not respond to simple painkillers such as aspirin, paracetamol or ibuprofen, may well have endo and should be investigated for it.

Atilla, thanks, thats really interesting.
I had c section with second child, which is when it started. My gp never told me this, or maybe he did and i was having a muppet day. Thanks, i feel inspired to re investigate.

I get this... Didn't have a c-section tho'. I tend to breathe through it like a contraction and it goes away again... Let us know if you find out anything!
