My little boy is 2 years old and has been exposed to TB, unfortunately his results came back Friday and he has latent TB Sad I'm feeling a bit freaked out, has anyone ever had any experience of latent TB? Everything I read on the internet scares me. We see a consultant in a weeks time but a week is a long time to wait when your feeling worried so I thought I would post on here to see if anyone else has ever been in the same situation and what happened. Thank you in advance.

Hi not sure if this is at all helpful but an ex-colleage had this. She was unaware of it although she had had it from infancy. She developed full blown TB in her early 50s when she was treated and isolated for a few weeks but was fine afterwards.

Thank you for the reply. Can I ask you how she knew she had it from infancy? Was she tested?

DH had this after travelling with work. Blood tests, x rays and a long (six months) course of antibiotics and he got the all clear.

DD was neutropenic at the time but I don't remember him being a particular risk to either of us.

Hopefully you will get the reassurance you need from the consultant .... stop googling Flowers.

Yes I've been told he is not infectious but it all sounds so scary. Especially because he is only 2 years old Sad

Can I ask how your husband knew he had the all clear at the end of it? Can they test? That is my main worry that we take the medication and it does not work or he gets TB in the mean time while taking it.

They tested and X-rayed at the end of the course of drugs and twice more afterwards at six monthly intervals. He will be monitored throughout.

Was this with the NHS? Or private? Ours is with the NHS I am hoping the treatment will be that thorough.
