Whether to use ABs?

DD (10 months) has been sick since Sunday, vomiting Sunday night, tired and listless since then (though gradually less so each day). The GP said on Monday evening that her tonsils were inflamed but that we should probably just give pain relief unless things got worse. He presrcribed a course of Amoxicillin 'just in case'. He also said she probably wouldn't vomit again given that she had kept food down for 24 hours.

Anyway, she has started vomiting again this morning and has some very unpleasant loose nappies. She's not quite as zonked as she was on Monday but is this reason enough to begin the ABs? This will be 5th course in the last 5 months.

you could always give the doc a quick ring to see what they say.
Personally i wouldn't if she has already got loose nappies as it could get worse.

I would take her back. If her tonsils are still imflamed, then yes, I would give the antibiotics, but if not, then at least you know either way.

There's no point giving antibiotics for vomiting and loose nappies as it will just come straight out again!

I'm in two minds. I'm not sure what the signs of improvement are. If she's happier and less tired, but looser from the rear and vomiting again, is this getting better or worse. Her temperature hasn't be too high since yesterday lunchtime.

My 9 month old had the same type of bug over Christmas. It took her weeks to get over it. She wasn't given any antibiotics for it. Personally, I'd go back to the Doctor and get her/his opinion on what you should be doing.
