Urine retention post TVT surgery

Please please help.
I had TVT surgery on Tuesday and haven't wee'd naturally since.
Been in and out of hospital all week with catheters and today have been taught to self catherise. Back to hospital Monday.
They are now suggesting reversing the surgery to see if that improves.
I'd hate to have gone through all this for nothing.
Any tips on retention? Anyone had something similar?

It may well be just swelling. I had a prolapse and bladder repair and couldn't wee for a week then it started to settle down. TVT is known to cause issues if they do it up too tight. Hope you are okay. Didn't they make you wee naturally before letting you out- they ought to have!!!

I'm currently sitting in a&e with exactly the same problem, mine was a posterior repair, also on Tuesday. I know how miserable you feel. I'm hoping they'll teach me to self can because I can't face an indwelling again, I found it horrendous.

Oh pop, how did you get on?

Polly - they tried and tried before I went home but nothing happened so they gave me the first catheter, they assumed it wouldn't last more than 24/48hrs.

Hi Treehugger. Bizarrely my bladder reacted to the pressure and I managed to wee while waiting to be seem so when they scanned I was just under the threshold for catheterization. I'm managing to wee a bit so just need to keep an eye on it and hopefully it's resolving itself. I have found running the tap and really relaxing on the loo has helped. How are you getting on with self cathing? Have you managed to do any wees yourself? My next focus is on number 2s. Haven't managed one of those yet but i think today will be the day. Feeling terrified!

Just wondering if having a warm bath might help (you pee in the bath), if you haven't tried that?
i do sympathise, I remember that awful bursting feeling 😖

Managing to self-Cath ok. I had control over the flow when I went this morning which is progress I guess.
Tried the longest hot shower today and still couldn't go.
I've been told not to bath due to the surgery P1nk.
So pleased you managed to get going again Pop.

Oh you poor thing. Can you wee at all on your own? Are you back at the hospital today?

No nothing at all. I feel full and am measuring what comes out which is between 300-600ml. I just can't "release".
It's so frustrating.
Hospital at 2 today.

I'm sure you'll be fine dalmation. Apparently this only happens to 1% - lucky me Confused
