General health

Severe lethargy, confusion, weakness and cold after eating?

The larger the meal, the worse it is. But even breakfast does it. Longer between meals also seems to make it worse.

I often fall asleep after dinner despite fighting against it. Also get very cold/shivery and feel like I can barely move; even if I don't fall asleep I'm sort of "zoned out" to some extent and it'll take half an hour to make a cup of tea or something.

Can cope by splitting up each meal into smaller parts and eating every couple of hours. Also I am currently not working due to mental ill health and have no DC otherwise this would have caused a lot of problems.

Have googled of course. "Reactive hypoglycemia" then..? But seems so linked to diabetes I am worried. Especially as I am always fairly fatigued and wee frequently, as well as being thirsty. However these symptoms have gone on much longer (years), whereas the reaction to eating has just been happening about two months.

Info, advice etc appreciated.

Mentioned to GP the other day and he said not to worry as had only been happening for two months, and I'd had blood tests done a year ago so unlikely anything's changed. Could weep with frustration over this GP - another thread here, forgot to menton this in that post. The others at the surgery also seem to think I'm a hypochondriac or something, was dismissed as making a fuss for 3 yrs until my severe period pain was taken seriously (and diagnosed as endometriosis) for example. Feeling knackered and pissing nonstop or anything else physical just gets ignored, I feel guilty and like im being a bad person to bring it up. But I just want my body to work properly so each day isn't such a fight, and I can feel better mentally too rather than just scraping by.

Can you change surgeries & see a different Dr? It doesn't sound right to just be left & my first thoughts on reading was diabetes. I'm not sure if you can but any DIY kits from the chemist to check sugar levels. Maybe speak to s pharmacist & tell them your symptoms. I find they are very helpful with advise sometimes better than the Drs.
Hopefully you can get to the bottom of it.

Have you researched 'gut dumping syndrome'? Sounds like a match to some of your symptoms?
