4 days of spotting before period - is it normal?

I've been spotting for 4-5 days before a period. Is this normal? It's been on going for about 6 months, and I think it started after I got my coil inserted and removed (both within a slabs of 1 month).

Do you think my copper IUD was not removed properly?

I've had this since I had DC2. Spotting for a few days, usually nothing for a couple of days and then 48 hours of really heavy period. Given my cycle is quite erratic, I appreciate the warning!

I'm the same and I'm putting it down to my age (43) as many of my friends are the same.

I spot for about 3 days then have a heavy period for 2/3 days then it all tapers of very quickly.

It's fairly normal for perimenopausal women apparently. How old are you?

I had it on and off. Had a hysteroscopy and they found a polyp. Since then no spotting. Take it as a message from your body and just get it checked out for peace of mind.

Thanks everyone. I'm 31 so I think I do need to get it checked. Better book an appointment

Same here. I'm 42 and have simply put it down as an age thing. Spotting (quite dark and TMI gritty looking!) for a few days before hand, a clear day and then just 2-3 days of heavy period. Then nothing at all!

I have had the same for the past few years.

For me it can start a week before my period is due. Looks like old blood generally with a bit of fresh . Then nothing then my period starts.

I am 48 though so have put it down to perimenopause

I have had about 14 days of just spotting then nothing no period. Mainly only on wiping after using the toilet. Sometimes in a discharge. Periods have gone very irregular the last year. Missing months at a time.
Does this sound normal for the perimenopause? I am 48. Will get it checked because it is different but it would be good to hear others experiences
