CARPAL TUNNEL - advise please

Was diagnosed with carpal tunnel over a year ago and have been luck enought to have had both hand operated on since. Had the right hand done first and the results were instant (once the initial soreness of the op was gone), had the left hand done in August and didnt feel right as soon as i came back from theatre. Was sedated both times as i suffer panic attacks so rather then be put to sleep i was sedated, again ewhen i had right hand done it was fine i watched the clock and it took a total of 9 minutes to complete the op, when i had the left hand done, i couldnt wake up after (not convinced that i was sedated, more like given a general rather then local).

Anyway, i still have pain in my left hand, it still feels very sore even tho i dont have any of the numbness or tingling, so the hospital have discharged me saying that i have just been left with sore scar tissue and that the op has done what it was meant to do, even tho i have days where i cant flatten my palm as its so painful. Has anyone else had any of these problems.

TIA

I had some carpal tunnel when I was pregnant. What helped me was raising my hand above my head for 10 mins. But this probably won't be intense enough for you.

I've currently got CT due to pregnancy and although you must be having/ had a worse time of it than me I found a couple of things help.. You may know of these so sorry if preaching to the converted
A short term thing In the morning when it is worse I found it is good to put a frozen wine cooler sleeve on my arms one at a time, arm wrapped up in a tea towel, It looks stupid but feels lovely.
I also know someone who practices The Bowen Technique (type of massage which focuses on pressure points) which also helped. This was also receomemned by another PG friend.
maybe you could look for a practioner in you area?

sorry it's not much HTH

wurly... if you search carpal tunnel you should find lots of threads with lots of advice. I hope you find what you need cos I've had it and it was horrid.

I remember spilling red wine all down myself because suddenly the pain came on. People thought that I was drunk. Sigh.......

No, that might just be ordinary cramp. If you are at all worried though, see your GP. Lots of exercises you can do to stop/help it. It was physio that got me through it.
