Ds is 16 and had a fit about 2 months ago.this was his first. He is now being investigated for epilepsy. We have seen a neurologist and are waiting tests.
Me dh and younger dc's have been away for a few days leaving ds with his older brothers and my parents, who live next door.
Ds messaged me yesterday and said he felt like he was going to have another fit, but instead he went blind for about five mins. He said his eyes were open but everything was black. He asking heard a buzzing sound. He said he didn't have a fit. Could this be related or should we take him to Dr in case it's something else.?
I have no experience with epilepsy other than haveing a dog with it. So have no clue if this would be related or not

I would go to the dr to check but it could well be epilepsy. My DH has epilepsy and some of his seizures are worse than others. He has partials where he just goes a bit strange for a few minutes but continues to stand or sit as normal then other full seizures where he goes unconscious and will fall to the ground and it will take him 45 minutes or so to recover. I hope you are able to get a diagnosis soon and that everything is OK. If it is epilepsy a lot of people are able to find a medication which works and keeps it under control, my DH is unlucky in that respect.

Have managed to get him an appointment for the morning. The letter arrived from his appointment last week with the neurologist. He wants him to have an mri, eeg and ecg. We also have a letter to arrange mri.
During the appointment he asked about any family with epilepsy, I could only think of 2 at the time but it's actually 4. I will mention this to go when we see him tomorrow.

Gp seems to think it was a partial seizure and is writing to the neurologist. We have mri booked for 4th May

Good news that your appt is coming up quite soon. Hope all goes ok and he is seizure free in the meantime. National society for epilepsy has good information if you need it.
