The following is from a breastfeeding document. As far as I was aware, locals didn't affect breastmilk. I think your hospital will be able to definitively answer this for you though. Hope it all goes well. xxKaren..ps this is a number to call with all breastfeeding enquiries.

Local anaesthetic
Local anaesthetics work by deadening sensation of the nerve endings around the tooth. There is no evidence of passage
into breastmilk and therefore no reason not to continue breastfeeding. The addition of adrenaline to the anaesthetic to
reduce bleeding may possibly make a sensitive baby jumpy and irritable so it may be worth asking the dentist to limit
use if possible.

MrsPoppins

excellent, thanks so much for the info and the phone number.

the podiatrist seemed to think it best to stop for 24 hours but tbh I think he took that lead from something I said.

they're only going to remove the nail not use the chemical to kill the root tho - as that is definately an unknown in terms of the bf.

he thinks it will give me 6 months to a year without re-growth which is good enough for me.

if it does get bad again then hopefully DD will have weaned and i can get the full treatment.

thanks again.

;-)
